Last week, troops throughout Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania joined their peers across the country to mark Girl Scout Week. Here in our council, we spotlighted a different themes each day last week and Girl Scouts were encouraged to share how they participated on our social media channels.
Here are some of the highlights:
On Monday, we focused on all the men who help Girl Scouts grow strong, and we heard from troops who gave shoutouts to dads who load up case after case of cookies or who always volunteer to drive girls to events.
For 14 years, Steve has been an active Girl Scout dad and he “puts up with every shenanigan I task him with,” his wife wrote on our Facebook page. Here he is with the luggage he packed before driving four girls and two adults to the airport as they left on a Girl Scout trip to Iceland. Thanks for your support of Girl Scouts, Steve!

Troop 58930 noted how fortunate they are to have “two Tonys” that are assets to the girls. Mr. Tony is the troop’s nature/environment expert, while Nurse Tony is the first aid helper. Even though neither Tony has a girl in the troop, they enthusiastically help with tasks including loading and sorting cookies as well as assisting at cookie booths.

Tuesday marked the birthday of Girl Scouts. To celebrate, Troop 32911 made birthday kits to donate to their local food pantry. They also had decorated cupcakes!

On Thursday, we asked you to share your throwback photos, and you did not disappoint! We received photos of troops on field trips, girls completing service projects, and even this “vintage” shot from Sheri, who was a member of York County Troop 168 in the 1980s.

We closed out the week with “Soak Up the Sun” Saturday, and we were treated to photos of troops out and about with their cookie booths, as well as this shot of a camper enjoying spending time with horses.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with us for Girl Scout Week! We loved seeing your posts, and we can’t wait to see what Girl Scouts do next!
