Check out the ways our Girl Scouts have been making a difference, building skills, and having fun! From community projects to outdoor adventures, our troops are showing courage, confidence, and character every day. Here’s a look at what they’ve been up to lately.
A Special Night of Girl Scout Milestones
Girls from Service Units 628 and 624 gathered on September 28 for a meaningful Investiture, Rededication, and Bridging Ceremony featuring flags, candle-lighting, and certificates honoring each girl’s commitment. Twenty girls from four troops participated, with thanks to Wegmans in Williamsport for donating refreshments.
Taking on Trail Adventures
In September, 16 girls from Troop 50170 in Wyoming County celebrated the start of the new Girl Scout year by hiking the Iroquois Trail in Tunkhannock. The girls reviewed Leave No Trace and made themselves a healthy trail mix for energy. Daisies worked on their Trail Adventure badge, and Brownies worked on their Hiker badge, while Juniors discussed plans for additional hikes to earn their Trail Adventure badge.

Newsies Spirit Shines Bright
Cadette Troop 32730 lit up the Schuylkill Haven Halloween Parade with their homemade Newsies-themed float, costumes, and high-energy performances. Their “Best in Show” win capped off a beloved tradition that strengthens creativity, teamwork, and community spirit.

Celebrating Friendship and the Girl Scout Law
Daisies in Troop 70430 in Lebanon County reunited with old friends and made new friends while creating friendship bracelets and learning the Girl Scout Law. Bead colors in their bracelets correlate to the Daisy petals. Welcome to the sisterhood, Girl Scouts!

Wyoming County Girls Earn Silver Award
Emma and Rochelle of Troop 51000 completed their Silver Award project at Camp Archbald by inventorying chuck boxes, surveying leaders for needed supplies, and soliciting donations. They organized, labeled, and stocked all units with new supplies and instructions, ensuring every chuck box is fully equipped and ready for troops to enjoy outdoor cooking at camp.

Playground Project Leads to Silver Award
Katie of Troop 52282 in Monroe County completed her Silver Award project, “Painted Pavement,” creating playground games in Immaculate Conception School’s parking lot. With permission from school leaders and help from volunteers, she painted hopscotch, four-square courts, and more, supplied game materials, and added instructions, giving students a fun, active space to enjoy recess for years to come.

Striking Up Fun and Friendship
Service Units 628 and 624 in Lycoming County spent a fun-filled day at Harvest Moon Bowling Lanes with 12 girls from four troops. The girls bowled with bumpers, shared laughs, enjoyed pizza, and each earned a special patch to remember the day. It was a perfect chance to build friendships and create lasting memories.

Fall Fun and Mystery
Service Unit 701 in Lebanon County hosted a fall festival on Oct. 11 for Daisy through Junior girls, complete with a scavenger hunt, crafts, Fall Product tastings, hot dogs, and s’mores. Later, volunteers transformed the space for a murder-mystery night for Cadettes through Ambassadors, where girls teamed up to solve the interactive whodunit hosted by leaders in full character.
Exploring Wildlife at Lake Tobias
Brownie Troop 10731, Junior Troop 10732, and Daisy Troop 10730 from St. Catherine LaBoure in Dauphin County visited Lake Tobias Wildlife Park on Oct. 12. The girls took a safari ride and fed animals that came right up to the vehicle. They also participated in a scavenger hunt that took them throughout the zoo to see all the animals, including the goats in the petting zoo.
Celebrating Trees in Wyoming County
On October 11, 28 Juniors and Cadettes from seven troops explored Vosburg Neck State Park, identifying trees and designing tree houses. They planted 90 native saplings along a stream, earning their Tree Promise patch and Trees badge while learning about conservation and making a lasting impact on the park’s environment.
Braving the Rapids on the River
At the end of September, Troop 51000 from Forkston in Wyoming County celebrated the start of the new Girl Scout year by spending the afternoon kayaking on the Susquehanna River. Girls started near Tunkhannock and paddled for about 6 miles. It was windy day with low water levels, so the girls faced many challenges with rapids and paddling into the wind. For many of them, it was their first time kayaking!

Hiking a Battlefield Trail
Three girls from Troop 51000 also completed a 9.8-mile Johnny Yank Trail hike for their Cadette Trail Adventure badge, exploring Gettysburg’s historic landmarks along the way. They stopped for lunch near Devil’s Den and capped the day with a sweet treat at Mr. G’s Ice Cream, making it a memorable and adventurous outing.

Trunk or Treat Fun in Lebanon County
Cornwall Troops from Service Unit 701 held a Community Trunk or Treat on Oct. 19, featuring more than a dozen trunks full of treats, plus music, free hot dogs and entertainment. The event also served as an opportunity to recruit Daisy Girl Scouts.
Exploring Nature and Learning Outdoors
Junior Troop 70908 camped overnight at Camp Kirchenwald in Lebanon County Oct. 11-12 while earning the Outdoor Journey and Shapes in Nature Badges. They explored animal habitats, created minimal impact fires, learned about symmetry art, fractals, and the fibonacci sequence, and practiced all the principles of Leave No Trace, among other fun activities.

A Poppin’ Parade
Daisies, Brownies and Juniors from Troops 10730, 10731 and 10732 participated in the Paxtang Halloween Parade. They made their costumes at a meeting earlier in the month. Their popcorn costumes were a big hit, and to top it off, they took home first place in their section!

Rocks Rock Camp Sparks Adventure
Troops 10730, 10731 and 10732 held Rocks Rock camp at Camp Happy Valley on Oct. 4-5. Each girl started her own rock collection, made geodes and fossils, and created a birthstone pen. Songs around the campfire and a Halloween party wrapped up the night, while the girls worked on outdoor badges and completed the low ropes course the next day.
