Fun, Friends, and Girl Scout Adventures

Girl Scouts embraced creativity, adventure, and community through hands-on activities, service projects, and exciting field trips. See what troops in our council are up to in October’s Mission Moments.

A Doll-lightful Day in Hershey

In September, Troop 10840 visited the Hershey History Center for the Central PA Doll Club’s monthly meeting. Collectors showcased their Girl Scout doll collections, shared how the dolls have evolved over time, and one even gifted dolls to the girls! The girls loved exploring the history and stories behind each doll.

Crafting Joy For Shelter Pets

Daisy and Brownie Troop 50279 are earning their 3 Cheers for Animals Journey and Pets badge by making pet toys to donate to local animal shelters. Their creations will give animals extra playtime and keep them active and stimulated, bringing joy to furry friends in need.

Exploring Robotics and History

In September, Girl Scout Troop 60271 of Lycoming County visited the Reading Public Museum for a day of robotics, creativity, and exploration. The girls built moving Cube Bit robots and designed scrub brush robots, learning to solve challenges and celebrate every success. After lunch among the museum’s gardens, they explored exhibits and galleries, and then they hit the gift shop!

Horsing Around at Destination Gettysburg

Girl Scouts Brianna and Aurora from Troop 33965 had a blast visiting Gettysburg last month for Destination Gettysburg. Take a look at some of the hands-on fun they had!

Stepping Outside for Adventures

Sylvia from Troop 10840 completed the 2025 Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge this summer! She explored nature, spoke with a park ranger about horseshoe crabs, identified insects, gardened, baked apple and peach pies, and even wrote a poem about the sun, moon, and clouds. Ready for your own outdoor adventure? Take this year’s challenge and discover the fun waiting outside!

Camping Gear, Community-Style

Juniors from Troop 33965 have been a busy bunch, collecting, cleaning, and organizing camp supplies to create a camp lending library for their Service Unit, 319. Troops in the Luzerne County-based service unit and the surrounding areas are invited to borrow the supplies to use for camping trips without the expense of buying new equipment. A perfect example of using resources wisely!

Leaders Take A Weekend Break

Why should girls have all the fun? Leaders from Service Unit 331 held a leader retreat weekend to celebrate and collaborate for the upcoming year. Seven leaders attended the retreat, led by Service Unit Treasurer and Junior/Cadette leader Paula Weihbrecht and Service Unit Lead and Senior/Ambassador leader Kathy Lockman. The weekend featured crafts, swaps, a Rededication Ceremony, a service project, songs, a campfire, cooking and many laughs! The group hopes to make the retreat an annual event.
