New Daisy starter kit supplies materials for your first three meetings–all for free!

If you’ve ever wanted to lead a Daisy troop, but you weren’t sure where to start, help can be found right in your mailbox.

From January through March 2024 (or while supplies last), Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania will offer a Daisy Drop Box providing everything you need to get a Daisy troop off the ground.

“One of the most common points for new Troop Leaders is that starting a troop can be overwhelming,” said Rebekah Zazzera, Regional Director for Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. “So, we wanted to offer this program that makes starting a Daisy troop as simple as opening your mailbox.”

The Daisy Drop Box originated with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, and Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania has added our own twist to it, Zazzera said.

“The Daisy Drop Box is a subscription service-type program that provides brand new first-time Daisy Troop Leaders with everything they might need to run their first few meetings,” she explained. “The boxes include step-by-step scripted meeting instructions plus activity supplies for each registered Daisy.”

Enrollment in the free program includes free Troop Leader membership (a $25 value per leader) and three monthly kits. Kits will be distributed between Jan. 2 and March 30, or until 40 new Daisy troops have registered.

“Anyone interested in signing up for this program will need to start a brand-new Daisy Troop between January and March 2024 or as kit supplies last, and then complete a short enrollment form to confirm their preferred mailing address and contact information,” Zazzera said.

To be eligible for the program, each troop must have two registered leaders who have completed successful background checks, and at least five registered Daisy Girl Scouts. Supplies will be provided for up to 12 Daisies per troop. New leaders are also required to complete online leader training within 30 days of starting the troop.

Daisies offers an opportunity for the youngest girls to explore Girl Scouts. Open to girls in kindergarten and first grade, Daisies focuses on teaching the 10 parts of the Girl Scout law, as girls create a flower by earning a petal corresponding to each part.
