Cookie Rally in York kicks off Girl Scout Cookie season

Troop leaders, girls, and their guardians gathered Jan. 13 to celebrate and kick off Cookie Season with a Girl Scout Cookie Rally at the Revolution WellSpan Park in York.

Three hundred girls from troops in York, Lancaster, Dauphin, and Adams counties enjoyed trivia and educational activities, while warming up with hot cocoa and trying samples of all of this year’s cookie varieties. Girls also created friendship bracelets featuring axolotl charms, the amphibian mascot of the Cookie Program.

Workshops run by Volunteer Support Coordinators from Lancaster and York counties focused on helping girls engage customers, operate cookie booths, manage order cards, and track their goals. Activities supported the five entrepreneurial skills of the Cookie Program: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

Cookie Rallies encourage Girl Scouts to get excited about a successful Cookie Season, said Kim Krummerich, regional director for Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. “This time together spurs girls’ creativity in how they want to plan and sell their cookies this year,” she explained.

The 2024 Cookie Season is in full swing through April 14. Additional Girl Scout Cookie Rallies will be held in the coming weeks in other regions of our council. More information may be found on our event calendar.
