Cold and dreary weather couldn’t dampen the Girl Scout spirit when Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA hosted Mega Drop on Saturday, March 2.
Volunteers and staff at four locations in our 30-county footprint helped to distribute hundreds of thousands of packages of Girl Scout cookies to troops. At Colonial Park Mall in Harrisburg, York Water Company, PNC Field in Scranton, and Lewisburg National Guard, troops came through to load up trucks, cars, and vans with cases of cookies to take back to distribute to customers.
We want to thank all of our volunteers who helped to make the day a success!
Spirits were high, even if the rainy winter weather made for a chilly day. It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you’re surrounded by cases of Girl Scout Cookies! Throughout the day, we kept Girl Scouts informed on all the Mega Drop happenings through a live blog.
Have you ever wondered what 35,517 cases of Girl Scout Cookies look like? Check out the slideshow to see for yourself! In total, we moved 426,204 packages of Thin Mints, Trefoils, Lemonades, and six other customer favorites throughout the four locations. In Harrisburg, we distributed 7,152 cases. In York, troops picked up 13,494 cases. At our Scranton site, 10,594 cases, and in Lewisburg, we sent out 4,277 cases.
We also welcomed coverage from local media outlets including WGAL, CBS21 and ABC27, who helped spread the word as Girl Scout Cookies become available to the public. Troops will be out and about in the next few weeks setting up cookie booths throughout our council.
