Girls learn history by dancing through the decades

Service Unit 416 hosted the Dancing Through the Decades Girl Scout Dance, bringing
together troops of all ages. Each troop selected a decade to represent, ranging from the 1920s through the 2000s, and arrived dressed in themed attire.

The variety of costumes added to the excitement and created multi-era atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed a lively dance floor, decade-themed music, and snacks, including Shirley Temples served by an Ambassador Girl Scout, throughout the evening. One girl wore her great-grandmother’s vest from the 1920s!

The event was a success, fostering camaraderie, creativity, and Girl Scout spirit. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interest in making this a recurring tradition. This kind of civic engagement embodies the Life Skills Pillar of Girl Scouts!
