There would be no Girl Scouts without volunteers. Like Girl Scout Councils across the country, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania relies on hundreds of volunteers who dedicate countless hours to serving our girls.

This year, we received 188 nominations for volunteer awards, and the winners were honored at our Annual Meeting on April 17. Parents and fellow volunteers gave shout-outs to the people who bring Girl Scout programming to girls across our 30-county footprint.

Volunteers were recognized in a variety of categories. Some received Girl Scouts in the United States awards, including the Volunteer of Excellence award and the Appreciation pin. This year, Kathy Leight, was honored with the Thanks Badge, which is one of the highest honors for a Girl Scout volunteer.

In addition, our Council recognizes volunteers with our own awards, including Juliette’s Pearls, a cumulative award given to honor impact on the Girl Scout mission and our strategic plan. One of these pearls, the gray color, recognizes the contributions of a young alumnae.

Thank you, volunteers, for everything you do for Girl Scouts. Your support helps us create girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
