From 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, through 7 p.m. on Friday, June 7, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania will participate in NEPA Gives, an online campaign that encourages community members to provide financial support to the nonprofit organization of their choice.

When you support Girl Scouts through campaigns like NEPA Gives, you open a world of possibilities to girls.

“Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania wants to ensure that all girls have the opportunity to develop the courage, confidence, and character they need to become successful leaders and help make the world a better place,” said Marisa Seubert, development grants and database manager for the organization. “All funds raised will directly benefit our programs and Girl Scouts within the Northeastern region.”

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania has set a fundraising goal of $5,000, Seubert said, and donations can start at just $10. Here are five ways your money can impact a young girl’s life.

Help her join Girl Scouts

A donation will help fund membership for a girl who might not have access to Girl Scout programming without financial support.

Introduce her to unique programs

Girl Scout donations provide funding for a variety of activities for girls of all ages, from hands-on STEM projects to arts exploration.

Open the outdoors to her

When girls explore the outdoors, they experience new adventures, gain confidence in their ability to take on challenges, and become informed stewards of their impact on their environment. Financial assistance helps girls attend outdoor programs and explore camp for both day and overnight sessions.

Foster her leadership skills

Girls who participate in Girl Scouts are more likely to take on leadership roles throughout their lives and actively engage in their community, according to the Girl Scout Research Institute.

Encourage her to expand her world

With an emphasis on skills progression, each level of Girl Scouts provides additional opportunities for girls to grow in self-discovery, step outside of their comfort zones, and take positive risks.
