Volunteer Education Series offers support and resources

As a Girl Scout volunteer, you selflessly give your time and talent to the cause. We are here to support you in your Girl Scout journey with our Volunteer Education Series. Check out these upcoming classes, some held virtually and some in person, and sign up for the ones that interest you. It’s an easy way to be sure you’re prepared to lead girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Topic: Fall Product 101

  • Date and time: September 5; 6:30 p.m.

If you’re new to the Fall Product Program, this training is for you! You’ll gain essential knowledge of the products and platform to effectively manage troop participation in the Fall Product Program, from a deeper understanding of the program’s benefits to using digital tools to maximize your profits.

This training is highly recommended for new Girl Scout troop leaders, co-leaders, parent volunteers, and anyone involved in supporting or participating in the Fall Product Program for the first time or seeking to enhance their skills.

Topic: Outdoor Cooking Alternatives at Camp Furnace Hills

  • Date and time: October 13; 1 to 5 p.m.

  • The cost to attend this session is $10 to cover food.

Are you tired of the same food at camp?  Does planning meals for 20 hungry girls scare you?  This workshop will include many different outdoor cooking techniques including Dutch oven, box oven, vagabond stove with buddy burner, pie irons, and use of a propane gas stove as well as planning meals, food safety, and dish washing.  Come hungry because we will be cooking at camp (no hot dogs on a stick!).  If you register for the Outdoor Cooking Alternatives, please let us know of any food allergies or accommodations that need to be managed. You will receive a cookbook with lots of information on types of cooking in addition to menu planning and recipes. 

This training is ideal for Girl Scout troop leaders, co-leaders, and volunteers interested in expanding their outdoor cooking repertoire and enhancing outdoor programming opportunities for girls.

Topic: Service Unit Refresh

Leading a Service Unit requires delegating tasks, collaborating with troops, effective time management, and more. Learn how to support troop leaders, volunteers, and girls in this training that will cover topics including mentoring, governance, and succession planning.

This training is essential for anyone involved in leadership roles within the Service Unit structure, whether new or experienced in the roles.

Volunteering to lead the Cookie Program for your troop may seem a bit overwhelming, but we are here to help! This program will equip you with essential skills and knowledge to confidently lead and support a successful cookie season. You’ll explore the fundamentals of the Cookie Program, develop strategies for realistic sales goals, learn tips for managing finances, and more.

This training is highly recommended for new troop leaders, volunteers, and anyone new to the Girl Scout Cookie Program who wishes to learn foundational skills and best practices for a successful cookie season.

Topic: Inclusive Troops

Girl Scouts is for every girl, and all girls should feel welcomed and included in their troop. Empower your troop leaders and volunteers with the skills to foster an inclusive environment and effectively address bullying through this specialized training program. Participants will leave equipped with strategies and techniques to promote diversity, equity, and respect within their troops.
