Girl Scouts strive to help people in need, and that’s just what members of several troops in our council did recently.
Girl Scouts in Troop 32919 joined members of Boy Scout Troop 39 in Danville to collect more than 20 boxes of items to support victims of hurricanes in the south.

They gathered food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper, baby formula, kids’ activity books and craft supplies, bottled drinks including eight cases of water and Gatorade, and much more thanks to the generosity of family, friends, and members of the community.
Volunteers helped to organize, pack, and label the donations, which were transported by volunteer Mr. Doug to Blaise Alexander Mazda in Hazleton to be loaded onto trailers bound for Bristol, Tenn. Supplies will be distributed there to those in need.
Girls in Troop 65001 in Northumberland County also collected donations for people affected by the recent hurricanes. They held a drive to fill up a trailer at a local church and then sorted the donations. The trailer will travel to North Carolina with supplies.
What a great way to display Girl Scout spirit and make the world a better place!

On September 30, Girl Scouts lifted the fundraising ban to support those affected by Hurricane Helene. Per Blue Book requirements, our National CEO Bonnie Barczykowski and National President Noorain Khan have approved a three-month lift of our organization’s fundraising ban. Girl Scouts may now raise funds through December 30, 2024. We recommend that contributions be made to charities that have been identified by Charity Navigator or Charity Watch.
