Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania Hosts 2025 Annual Meeting

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania hosted its Annual Meeting virtually on April 23, bringing together delegates, alternates, and council members from across the region. This yearly event gives delegates the opportunity to help shape the future of Girl Scouting in our council.

During the meeting, delegates cast their votes on key matters, including the Board Directors, Board Development, and National Delegate candidate slates, as well as a proposed bylaw amendment. Attendees also heard important updates from Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania President and CEO Janet Donovan and members of the Board of Directors.

The Board plays a vital role in guiding the organization. Board members lead strategic planning, craft policy, and ensure sound financial oversight. They also serve as ambassadors and advocates for Girl Scouting throughout Central and Northeast Pennsylvania. Business and community leaders fill these roles, and member delegates elect them each year at the Annual Meeting.

This year, all board candidate slates up for election received approval. Alison Bernhardt, Elizabeth Dilullo Brown, Renee Mattei Montgomery, and Ami Zumkhawala each secured a second term on the Board. Robyn Holder and Elizabeth Schluter were elected to their first terms on the Board Development Committee.

Delegates also elected several individuals to serve as national delegates. These Girl Scouts represent their local communities and contribute to shaping national council policies.

Adult delegates elected:

  • Siobhan Shadle
  • Belinda Stefl
  • Maggie Roat
  • Sandra Sollenberger
  • Carol Thornton
  • Angela Dobson

Girl delegates elected:

  • Jeannette Varrassa
  • Jillian Scholl

Alternates elected:

  • Laura Trout
  • Ellen Kamps

The meeting also included discussion and a vote on a proposed bylaw amendment. The proposal aimed to transition Girl Scouts to a self-perpetuating board structure. The proposal did not pass.
