Bridging is one of the most cherished traditions in Girl Scouts. It’s meaningful milestone that celebrates growth, achievement, and the exciting journey ahead.
Each year, girls gather with their troops, families, and communities to mark their transition from one Girl Scout level to the next, whether from Daisy to Brownie or Cadette to Senior.
This tradition is rooted in the progression of the Girl Scout experience, where girls build confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships at every stage. During a bridging ceremony, Girl Scouts often walk across a symbolic bridge, recite the Girl Scout Promise, and reflect on their accomplishments while looking ahead to new adventures.
For the second year in a row, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania is bringing that tradition to life at the 2026 Bridging Celebration on May 30 at City Island in Harrisburg—and registration is now free, making it easier than ever to be part of this unforgettable experience.
Girls and families will enjoy a festival-style day filled with hands-on activities from community partners, SWAPS, food trucks, and inspiring guest speakers. The highlight of the celebration will be crossing of the Walnut Street Bridge, where hundreds of Girl Scouts will take their next step together, representing their growth, confidence, and future leadership.
What makes bridging truly special is its flexibility and creativity. Troops personalize ceremonies with songs, stories, and traditions that reflect their unique journey together. Some include campfire celebrations, while others incorporate community service or mentorship moments with younger Girl Scouts.
Bridging is more than a ceremony, it’s a celebration of courage, confidence, and character in action. It honors how far each girl has come and inspires her to take the next step in her leadership journey.
With the event now free, space is expected to fill quickly. Families are encouraged to register soon to be part of this council-wide celebration.
As Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, we are proud to celebrate these moments that connect generations, strengthen our community, and keep our traditions strong.
